How the service works

A plain description of the formats, the limits that apply, what a render costs, and exactly when credits are returned.

The service

You upload a research document — PDF, Word (.docx) or Markdown — and we produce a slide deck and a narrated video. We offer four formats:

LaTeX sources and archives are rejected at upload, with a pointer to the LaTeX product.

Before we generate

We check that an upload looks like a research document, and that it contains enough readable text to summarise accurately, before generating anything. If it doesn't, we stop and tell you why — and you are not charged. A presentation slide deck exported to PDF is refused the same way, with a message saying so — the service builds a video from a paper or report, not from slides.

Limits the software enforces

• The free Research Teaser: one per 7 days.
• Up to 12 renders in progress at once from one network address, and 12 per hour.
• Up to 12 submissions in one browser session.

These keep the service responsive for everyone. Going over one shows a message rather than failing silently.

Credits and payment

Paid formats are bought with credits: 1 credit = $1. Payment is handled by Stripe or PayPal on their own pages; we never see your card details.

Refunds

Credits are returned automatically by the software, with no manual step. The conditions are:

• The render fails. Any failure — extraction, generation, or the video stage — refunds in full.
• The deck is built but the video fails. You keep the deck and the credits come back, because the video is what you paid for.

A render that completed and delivered your video is not refunded. A delivered render can be edited in the studio, or reported.

A refund is applied once and only once — a repeat cannot credit you twice. We also re-check periodically, so a render owed a refund still gets one if something went wrong at the time.

If our AI provider has an outage

A paid render is never completed on a quality-hampering model. If the usual provider is unavailable and no comparable high-quality model can be used, the render fails and the credits are returned, rather than delivering you something weaker than you paid for.

A free render may be completed on a backup provider so it still gets made. When that happens the job page says so — the video is complete and still checked against your document; only the wording may be less polished.

Editing your video

A render in the 16:9 formats — Research Highlight and Video Abstract — includes a studio where you can edit the narration, record your own voice, and re-render: up to 2 times per render, at no extra cost. Studio re-renders never cost credits. The 9:16 social formats don't have studio editing yet.

Studio edits are your words: we don't re-check them against your document the way we check our own output.

What the automated checks do

The narration is generated automatically, then checked back against the text of your document — both by exact checks and by a separate review that looks for claims the document does not actually support. These checks can miss things, and they can flag things that are correct.

Visibility of a finished video

A finished video is reachable only from its job link until a share link is created. Turning sharing off deletes the public copy immediately. The free format renders with a SheQAI watermark; the paid formats render without branding.

How long we keep your files

Your uploaded document and everything generated from it are deleted automatically: after 7 days for a render made without an account, 30 days for a signed-in free render, and 90 days for a paid render. Download what you want to keep. Publicly shared copies persist until you stop sharing. See Data handling for the detail.
